Good book!

I am an avid book reader... I enjoy many different types of books, and when I picked this one up, I mostly did so because I wanted something light and romantic to read. This book is not that way at all! From the silly cover, it looks like a cheesy romance novel, and I wouldn't have gotten it except all of the reviews for it were really good. It was hard for me to get into for the first few chapters (as most books are for me) but after that I was hooked! This book is amazing! I really enjoyed it, and it is full of real American history along with so many deep and hard things in life. I laughed (not very much), I cried, and I couldn't put it down. It is anything but light and cheesy. LOVE this book!! I have already ordered and will be reading more of Janet Dailey's work, she does an amazing job!!

Great read

This is a great book. I could hardly put it down. Many books will cover a few weeks of time in a book, this one covered 10 years. I learned so much about the cherokees and even the slaves. And you don't just hear the story of two people falling in love in this book, but you hear the story of so many people surrounding them and you will fall in love with them all. There are some very touching mements in the book that brought tears to my eyes. I am now going to have to read Lije's story:) If you enjoy historical romance, then you will enjoy this book.

American Dream

I read this book as the Proud and the Free and it is one of the best books I have read. I learned so much about the Cherokee Nation that I had never heard before. Janet Daily brings these characters to life. Well worth reading again.
