Amanda's Rib

"Amanda's Rib" is fascinating. If you like mystery and suspense with romance thrown in, this is the book to read. I am not going to give details on the plot as there is enough infomation on it to pique the reader's interest and I don't want to give away anything, but I was constantly surprised and amazed by the different twists and turns in this book. The characters are depicted in great detail and the reader knows them intimately. The subject of domestic abuse is handled in a delicate manner, yet makes the reader aware of how violent the crime is, and how the victim is often powerless to leave the relationship. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat. You'll find you can't put it down, but will hate to finish it. I can easily see this as a TV movie and I'm sure if this book got in the right hands, it would be on the best seller list, and/or maybe send this to Oprah's book club? I'm looking for more powerful writing from this talented author.

The first of Cyndia Depre's novels (of many more, I hope) weaves a very interesting storyline around a woman of both strength and fragility. I found myself chuckling at the very well-written dialogue between Amanda and her friend Wade, and caught up in the secret of Amanda's past. The emotions of the characters were descriptive and evoke empathy as Amanda deals with demons from her past. As the story unwinds, Amanda and her emotions - long ago packed away - begin to unravel. This is a must-read novel - page turning from the first line to the last. I look forward to the next winner from Ms. Depre.

Amanda's Rib by Cyndia Depre combines a character study with an exciting plot. Her characters were so real to me that I'd find myself thinking about them when I was doing chores around the house or going somewhere in my car. Ms. Depre, a first-time published author, has a very appealing writing style that makes the reader want to keep on reading. The main character, Amanda Winslow, has secrets that keep her from trusting others, especially men, but Jack Lindsey, a friend of a friend, keeps on trying to get close to her. Find a comfortable place to sit and read Amanda's Rib. The ending will knock you out of your chair!

Ms. Depre's debut novel grabs you by the throat and doesn't let go. From the first word, you are taken on a roller coaster ride of emotions and plots twists. Don't assume you know what will happen, every time the reader gets an inkling, the author pulls the rug out from under your feet and sends you spiraling in a different direction. The end result? An incredible read and an innovative book in a genre that rarely invites innovation. I salute Ms. Depre for her book, Amanda's Rib, and only ask, when can I read more? Already an avid fan! Sry
