While looking for butterflies, a young girl discovers an even more beautiful winged creature, who needs her help. This description may be from another edition of this product.
I like wordless books. I think they offer a sort of 'relief' from being told what to think. Certainly my children seem to savor being able to sit in my lap and talk about the pictures. It is also a good way of teaching children to pay attention and to look for details. Four Stars. Nice Story. Good artwork. The reviewer from the "School Library Journal" does a good job in summarizing the plot.
A delicate beauty!

Amanda's Butterfly is a beautiful, wordless picture book. Children love the delicate pictures that convey the story of a butterfly that Amanda catches, only to discover that it is really a lovely fairy with a torn wing. Amanda mends the fairy's wing with tape and then releases the pretty fairy back to nature and freedom. The story is slight and delicate. Children study the pictures with deep concentration. A gossamer- like unfolding of values and choices reveals an opportunity for children and adults to evaluate the impact that our wants and desires can have on living things. This book is a delicious treasure for young children.
