Breastfeeding: Your Priceless Gift to Your Baby and Yourself is a bold breastfeeding book presenting twenty exquisite breastfeeding photos, each worth a thousand words and paired with to-the-point benefits summarizing the emotional and physical benefits of breastfeeding for the mother, baby, family, and society. Each reason is evidence-based with a list of references at the end of the book. The touching photos are WHO compliant, multicultural, and includes two sets of twins, a toddler nursling, a pregnant mom nursing--in a wide variety of settings--the photos will bring tears to your eyes. I was honored that the author asked me permission to use one of my favorite photos of five nursing mothers and their babies, that I took at a breastfeeding meeting, to illustrate on the front cover and then later asked me to review the text and endorse the book prior to completion. The book is targeted towards persuading new moms, WIC, and physicians towards understanding the benefits of breastfeeding. It is for anyone else interested in the beauty of breastfeeding. It can be read in one sitting or as daily inspirations. It has been translated into a simplified Spanish version. I keep it prominently displayed in my office as required reading in my practice.
