The section on cards and such is tempting.

I am not a altered books or boxes fan but the section on cards is well or worth checking out. The techniques and illustration's are more than expected and will tempt you to use your time to try out.

An Altered Showcase

Altered Art showcases some of the most fun altered art out there today. This field is expanding exponentially - it seems so accessible - and offers a relief from the generally serious world we live in. Not that altered art can't (and doesn't) have a serious side all its own. As illustration, compare the Nori Dress by Dee Fontans on page 140 with I'll Fly Away on page 128 by Betsy Reeves. They each speak to the same theme in two entirely different languages. Terry Taylor has assembled an incredible array of talented artists, doing what they do best, altering the bits of our wonderful, wacky, crazy and sometimes sad world into a storytelling vision of art that transcends time.

A piece of Art in itself!

This book is beautifully photographed and written with great detail. I consider it to be an important addition to my "altered art" book collection. I recommend it to anyone who is interested in altered art or collage art. It is filled with ideas and examples, as well as tools, and products useful to the art form. It will inspire you to start making your own altered art!

A long awaited treasure

Like my friend, Tracy Roos, I had been counting the days until this book came out and when it did, wow! Many of us working in the mixed media genre of art had heard the advanced buzz on this book and the wait was excruciating, to say the least. This exciting book is so inspiring, educational and just plain gorgeous, it's hard to avoid using cliches to describe it. Aside from being filled with the most awesome eye candy, it is so thought-provoking that I will be carrying it around with me forever. It was definitely worth the wait. Don't wait to order yours.

Great Inspiration!

I loved this book. A lot of the books about altered books look alike to me, but Terry Taylor's book is full of eclectic inspiration. One of the best parts are all the examples by different artists. It's nice to see a book without page after page of the same stuff. In particular, check out the work by Dorit Elisha on pages 35 and 79. This book is definitely a must-have if you are interested in altered books.
