Aloha Sun

Aloha Sun is a great boardbook for any family's collection! A sort of counterpart to "Goodnight Moon," it has fun illustrations with lots to look at on each page. I'm now reading it my third child and he loves it just as much as the other two did (and still do!). I highly recommend it whether you live in Hawaii, are going to visit Hawaii, or just love a little bit of that Hawaiian feel to your day!

I couldn't wait to read this book to my son! Now I have something to read in the morning since I read Goodnight Moon at night. Since I live in Hawaii, this book teaches my son to say "Aloha" and that's what people say when they greet each other most of the time. My son is only 5 months, so he wiggles with joy when I read this book. The illustration is great and the words that go with it is cute! I would definitely buy more for gifts!

Yumi Vong wonderfully captures a Hawaiian morning in this delightfully told and illustrated account of everything a young boy says "aloha" to as he awakes--including a gecko, of course! I love sharing this book with my daughter in Hawaii. It's also been a nice way to share a little aloha with friends on the mainland. From the Hawaiian quilt on the bed to the slippers the boy wears, the room exudes island life. The simplicity of the verbal text is sure to delight young readers and keep the pages turning. The bright, appealing illustrations are sure to elicit "discussion" as the book is read ("See the fish?").
