Great and sorrowful memoir.

I was sucked into this memoir by happenstance. I recently moved to the Tampa Bay area and upon reading that this tragedy took place here, I felt I owed it to my new city to read it. David Kushner does a beautiful job writing about his older brother's death in such a way that you can forget that he was only 4 at the time. It's the kind of tragedy that becomes an urban legend in its own right, but we never get to see the lasting impression such a tragedy can leave on an entire family. The reader will be left angry, sorrowful, and distraught at the events that took place, but Kushner leaves the reader with a beautiful imprint of his brother's spirit and his family's love that enabled them to endure a lifetime of carrying Jonathan with them. So glad I picked this up. I was there with him every step of the way and will think of the Kushners for the rest of my life.
