"Dino" Don Lessem has made a great dino book!

"Dino" Don Lessem has made a great dino book--one of the best,in fact. It has great, up-to-date information about dinosaurs. For example, did you know that the shotest dinosaur name is Minmi, and that the longest is Micropachycephalosaurus? All the things you could ever want to know, and more, all in one. It has the newest discoveries(Giganotosaurus, 1995-1996) and some older ones(Iguanodon, 1800's).The smartest dino(Troodon) and some of the dumbest(Brachiosaurus, Stegasaurus). Now,I could go on like this until all 1,000 of the words I could use would be used up- but I won't. And besides, if I did do that, then I would spoil all the hundreds of suprises and facts that this book holds within itself. So what are you waiting for? Grab this book and get ready for hours of fun!

Dino-myte!

This is a great book for kids of all ages it takes you step by step with dinosaurs whether you are a future paleontologist, a dinosaur maniac, or just getting started! This is the perfect books that tells how they dig them up, the names, and much more!

I dig dinosaurs too.

Although this book is nonfiction, I really enjoyed reading it (I don't normally like reading factual information books). "Dino" Don Lessem is a well-known author who writes columns for a children's magazine and he really knows his dinosaurs! The book is broken up into 5 different parts - 1. A Whole World of Dinosaurs, 2. Dinosaurs Up Close and Personal, 3. The Meat-Eaters, 4. The Plant-Eaters, and 5. The World of Dinosaurs - with each part being a whole unto itself. In other words, you don't have to read the entire book to understand each section. It is written in simple, easy to understand language, it has a table of contents, a glossary, and an index. Mr. Lessem uses good comparisons such as "...like the little ridges on a steak-knife's blade,..." to help kids make the connections. I feel that it would be a very useful tool for upper elementary school through early middle school teachers, or as a unit supplement. It has dino facts, such as the shortest dino, the smartest dino, etc...listed in 'Dino Don Says:' mini-sections scattered throughout the text. It even has experiments listed that can be done at home (with parental supervision, of course). Children in this age bracket (9-12) would probably want to read this even if it wasn't required just because they love dinosaurs. However, the only drawback that I can see is that it has very few illustrations. This one is a keeper.
