My daughter used this for her high school Japanese class. We purchased it so she can keep up with her Japanese, and I'm now learning as well. It looks like a great textbook and I'll be using it soon.

As a college student majoring in Japanese Language and Literature and going to continue on to a master's degree, I have come across many books claiming to teach a person the Japanese language. This is an excellent textbook for those beginning to learn Japanese. Everything is very clear and easy to understand. This volume teaches you both Hiragana and Katakana as well as a few basic Kanji. I recommend this textbook to anyone interested in learning Japanese.

As a new Japanese student, I found this book to be extremely helpful. Not only are the hiragana and katakana alphabets included and explained, but there is also a lot of cultural information that I found very interesting.
