When Alistair is kidnapped by a spaceship full of Goots from Gootula, his main concern is for his overdue library books. This description may be from another edition of this product.
I LOVE this book. Alistair's neurotic reliability is hilarious. I am a librarian, and this is one of the books I read to the first graders in our community when they make their annual visit to the public library. The book's lessons about responsibility are delivered with grace and humor.

If your kids like funny books. Then i think they will like this one. In this book Alistair is a very organized and sensible kid that was just doing fine until the Goots took him into their space ship. The Goots weren't very good at directions and when they landed Alistair got off with out looking were he was. The Goots look like big blue cows and had orange suits on.
A shame

It's an amazing book and it's a terrible shame that the Alistair books are out of print. I can't imagine why! I would love to give this book and other Alistair books to my daughter's friends as gifts (she's almost 3), but haven't been able to find any more. The books are fun, the stories are interesting and kids absolutely love them!

that he thinks this book is "awesome". It is now his new favorite. He especially liked the "Goots". Spoke about them for hours after the book was read to him. We were visiting friends and we had to "remove" the book from his site as we were leaving, for fear he'd want to take it home with him. I am now searching for the book for him and am finding it difficult to find. His Grandmother.

We found Alistar in Outer Space at the library and immediately wanted to add it and other Alistar Grittle books to our home library! This is a children's book with a legitimate plot, fast paced story, and artwork that doesn't distract or confound. Alistar is a wonderful character with his actions lending great insight into his eccentric personality. He has a goals and motives and an excellent conflict. The dry humor in the tone and the excellent plot twist at the ending make it one of the few humorous, irony-filled books we have found (outside of Seuss.) The artwork is fabulous... brillant colors and clearly drawn, creative characters. Our kids (ages 4 and 2) were immediately drawn to the book by the ease of viewing afforded by the illustrations. We keep reading it because they are truly entertained by the story.
