I was moved by the way the author captured the "humanness" of the women represented. Writing about historical figures can be a challenge, but Holland rose to the ocassion with a freshness that is really great. I felt these women, these heroines from history, had something to say to me where I live and hurt and strive, today, in the '90s. No small accomplishment for the author! I felt inspired and nurtured as I read. Neat book for quiet, reflective moments, or to give as a gift to a mom, sister or friend
