Planes, trains and automobile kids will love this one!

Do planes, trains and automobiles really push the fascination button of a young person in your life? If so, this book on planes is just the ticket. In this heavily illustrated book there is enough to keep any `plane person' occupied for quite some time. Were you aware of the fact that "a Jumbo Jet's wings hold enough fuel to fill the tanks of more than 3,000 cars? If not, that will give you a clue to just one of the fascinating facts you'll find in this book! One of the first pages the reader comes to there is a cutaway of a Boeing 787. The basic parts (the engines, passenger cabin, fin, tailplane, wing, fuselage, cockpit) are named and their functions listed. A brief paragraph talks about the speed, height and has a small blurb on the modern aircraft. And this is only the first page. There are specifications on an assortment of aircrafts from the Airbus A380 to the Northrop B-2 Spirit for those technical youngsters. Are you interested in the parts of the wing? That's in here too. Chapters include: Aircraft Aircraft engines Taking Off Steering Aircraft Finding the Way In the Cockpit Aircraft Design This is a fun, wonderful and colorful book to browse and read. There are full color photographs, diagrams and mini-sidebars with interesting vignettes to learn about. There is an excellent glossary, an index and a few recommended web sites (one is for teachers). Did you know that "by swinging its jet nozzles slightly forward, a Harrier can actually fly backward?" I bet you didn't know that one!
