Advent Season

An oldie(the second) in the Sister Mary Helen series. ADVENT OF DYING is a warm read with well drawn characters. The nun is shocked to discover her secretary brutally murder when she arrives to reclaim her prayer book, which contains a mystery she wants to finish before Advent. Police Inspector Dennis Gallagher wants her saying her rosary and off the case, but his partner Kate Murphy doesn't have the heart to tell the determined nun to mind her own business. It take all three to solve the baffling murder when they know so little about the victim. Good read for a chilly night, maybe hidden in your prayer book cover. Nash Black, author of TRAVELERS and SINS OF THE FATHERS.

Miss Marple in a wimple.

Sister Mary Helen is amazed to hear her quiet and very shy secretary belting out the blues in a San Francisco bar. The good sister is baffled but pleased to see her friend blossoming, even if under somewhat questionable circumstances. The next day, however, Sister finds the young woman brutally murdered. Since Sister Mary Helen is an avid fan of paperback mysteries, she decides she to see if she can unravel this one. You'll have the murderer figured out pretty quickly in this one, but it's light and amusing reading.

ADVENT OF DYING

This book was a treat! Put the Snoop Sisters, Miss Marple, Father Dowling all together and this one is still better! Characters were well defined, had a sense of humor, all the loose ends were tied up --- bless the fiesty old nun!
