Book Overview

A vampire puts the bite on a dental assistant.

It's a lousy first day on the job for Nina Blackman when a patient, loopy from the anesthesia, bites her. At least he was cute. But for real drama she can't beat the next evening. Nina wakes up with a set of razor-sharp fangs, bionic vision, supersonic hearing, and a taste for blood. But there's a good explanation: It's her patient, Long Island vampire Greg Statleon. Actually they're perfect...

Ohh boy! Some people have big mouths and then some people have Nina Blackman's mouth. Scratch that... nobody does the big mouth like Nina. We first saw Nina in The Accidental Werewolf as Marty Andrew's color wheel accomplice and best friend. Even as a secondary character in that book she really made an impression on me, and I was glad that she got her own book. At the beginning of Accidentally Dead, things haven't changed much as far as her abrasive personality goes. Though she has started a new job as a dental hygienist - which is a turn in the upwards direction for our protagonist - that, my friends, is where the trouble begins. This time it isn't her mouth that gets her into trouble, but a sexy mysterious guy who takes a bite out of her while looped up on happy gas. Things definitely turn sour the next day when she can't eat chicken wings without hurling and wants to eat the neighbors' dog as a snack. Not to mention the teeth... oh, I meant FANGS. It seems that Nina is now a part of the paranormal population of vampires... and she is PISSED. The story is full of funny twists and turns as Nina tries to find the cure for vampirism so she can go back to her old life. Unfortunately, her studly sire, Gregori Statleon, has thrown her for a loop. Is he man enough to handle the hostile word wars of Nina? Can Nina find a cure and go back to her old way of life? You will just have to tune into your copy of Accidentally Dead when it comes out this July. I will say that I was very impressed and even shed a tear or two learning more about Nina and why she acts the way she does. The book has some excellent life lessons that we all could take something away from. That, and it is funnier than hell. If you like the writing styles of MaryJanice Davidson or Katie MacAlister, then you will LOVE Dakota Cassidy. She's in a class all her own! Accidentally Dead-On!

Nina Blackman is dead. And not just your ordinary dead, but UNdead. She didn't start out that way. Oh, no. One minute she was a dental assistant minding her own business when a patient, hopped up on laughing gas turns around and bites her. Starting out with a craving for blood instead of hot wings with blue cheese dip was a rude awakening and her new fangs are just cumbersome. But her friends are there to help her though. And Greg, "HawtMortalityStealer" an honest to goodness vampire, is going to guide her. Whether she wants him to or not! ACCIDENTALLY DEAD is second in this hilarious and sexy paranormal series. It's not required for you to read THE ACCIDENTAL WEREWOLF first, but why deny yourself the pleasure? There's lovely character development to be had as you meet Marty, Nina's friend, Color Wheel mentor and moon howler and Wanda, Nina's own personal and very human Jiminy Cricket. These characters grow with each installment. Nina wasn't initially my favorite character. I was a bit worried about spending a whole book with her. Honestly? She scares me a little. I think she could intimidate Rambo and The Terminator combined. That's part of what made this book so fun! Discovering what made Nina-Nina was more touching than you would expect from paranormal chick lit. I grew to adore her as a character. Labeling Nina `Stubborn' doesn't even begin to cover it, 'cause she's on a quest to get UN-undead. I found myself more than once laughing out loud (okay, snorting on occasion) at her tenacity. Dakota Cassidy has a gift for humor in her writing and who couldn't use a good sidesplitting laugh? She also manages to leave us guessing, using just the right amount of suspense to keep the pages turning. The foreshadowing for Cassidy's next book in the series, THE ACCIDENTAL HUMAN left me frothing at the mouth. Wanda's story promises to be just as snarky, touching and fun. Accidentally Dead by Dakota Cassidy

I give it 4.5 stars, so I rounded it up!! Dakota Cassidy is back with the 2nd book in her 'Accidentally' series, "Accidentally Dead". The same three heroines from her first book "The Accidental Werewolf" are back and this time it's nasty-tempered Nina's turn. After deciding selling makeup just wasn't her thing, Nina went to school and became a dental hygenist. Her first day on the job, one of the patients has a bad reaction to the anesthetic and BITES her. Two days later she wakes up with some wickedly long fangs! What to do, what to do? She calls her recently werewolfed friend, Marty, because, HEY, werewolves and vampires...close enough. So Marty, Nina, and Wanda (the only normal one left) decide to beard the vampire in his lair...er, something like that and off they go. Greg is disgusted with himself. He's the head of a vampire clan that were all turned against their will so he doesn't believe in turning others. When he finds out he accidentally turned Nina, he tries to make amends. Too bad she the nastiest, most potty-mouthed woman he's ever met who has no intention of accepting her new life. All she wants to talk about is becoming mortal again. If there was a way, he would tell her just to get her and her bad humor off his back! There is a ton of humor in this story. Nina is over-the-top *itchy! She's also very attracted to Greg, only she calls him Fangman, Batman, and an assortment of other not so nice nicknames. Greg's fed up! It's not like he can go back and change it. If only she didn't turn him on so much! The battle is one and it's a beaut. Dakota Cassidy has a way with humor in her stories and the sex scenes are equisite...and way hot! Her characters take the time to get to know one another and learn to trust each other, and they're going to need that once Greg let's go of the last secret he 'forgot' to tell Nina. I very much enjoyed reading Ms Cassidy's latest and LOL, and am really looking forward to see what kind of trouble Wanda manages to get into when her book "The Accidental Human" comes out in March 2009!

enjoyable humorous satire

Following the recent conversion of her Buffalo friend Marty Andrews into THE ACCIDENTAL WEREWOLF, Hackensack dental assistant Nina Blackman knows there are some strange things out there. She just never expected someone's overbite to cause her a problem of sorts at the office. While prepping the patient Gregori "Greg" Statleon for dentist Dr. Berkenstein, under anesthesia he accidentally bit her and turned her into an undead. Marty and their third pal Wanda rush to Hackensack to help their friend fang face who thinks at least she does not have tail issues. She is his first (and he prays Last) conversion. He is chagrined and unable to take back his bite, but irate Nina's acerbic diatribe accompanied by her two friends leaves him feel as if "Snaggletooth" took two pints of blood from him. Greg swears he will mentor her on all things vampiric while her pals offer support. However, the dentist with suddenly large canines wants to revert back to human although she would not mind snacking on Greg. The sequel to amusing THE ACCIDENTAL WEREWOLF is an enjoyable humorous satire that takes a bite out of the vampire romance sub-genre. The story line is fast-paced from the moment the woman from the Bronx calls her recently changed Lycan friend to shuffle from Buffalo to Jersey as she now has a biting problem. Fans will appreciate the non stop hilarity as Nina rips skin with her tongue from everyone even while she and Greg fall in undead love. Harriet Klausner

Another terrific story by Dakota Cassidy, loved it!

This is the second book in Dakota Cassidy's wonderful series (but you don't have to have read the first book - although you should! :) It's the story of tough, potty-mouthed Nina who gets accidentally turned into a vampire. Greg is the handsome, almost 500 year old vampire, who mistakenly bit her and it trying to help her adjust to her new life. It's a wonderful, FUNNY and touching story. Her best friends Marty (the werewolf) and Wanda are here again too. My fingers are crossed that Wanda gets her own story next!!!
