Characters make the story -- I need to know them - Risa Madsen - her sister falls into the hands of a serial killer - she must do everything in her power to save her. [get in the way, more like.] Trent Burnell - he is an FBI profiler, he left Risa two years ago to protect her from the evil of his world. They had been seeing each other for a period of 8 years. [Idiots!] When the evil presents itself in the form of Dryden Kane, Trent has no choice in seeing Risa again. It had taken him 2 years to bring Kane down. Dryden Kane - he takes revenge against those who insult him and Dixie was the perfect implement against Risa Dixie Madsen Kane - was looking in the wrong places for love and believed Kane's baloney. Pete Wiley - he has problems with Risa and the FBI. Another question mark. Duane Levens - he was on duty the night Kane escapes. But he does hate Kane. John Rook - the police chief who doesn't appear to know what he is doing. Farantina Hamilton - a lady with money and appears to know Kane. Did she help him escape? She ended up being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Paul Hanson - the pompous prison warden who wants his share of the funding pie - he appears to have more money than he makes and a very scared wife. Excellent plot - with Trent being burned out - Risa heartbroken about their break-up - Dixie looking for love - and Kane who loves to kill and taunt his victims. It is an intrigueing read - and worth the time.

ACCESSORY TO MARRIAGE is another heart pounding thriller written by Ann Voss Peterson. Her yummy hero, brave heroine and truly evil villan kept me glued to the pages from beginning to end. I can't wait for more from this fabulous author.

Even if he can save her sister, can he save Risa from a madman's revenge?Peterson is one of the rare authors finding ways to write unique stories for Harlequin, and this is another achievement for her. A very different kind of tale, "Accessory to Marriage" twists the marriage plot and offers an entertaining race against time. Peterson keeps the story flowing and has a way with the unexpected. Although the hero is hard-headed and the main couple seem to repeat the same arguments about their past over and over without making any progress, the action and suspense are strong. The villain is especially chilling. Readers looking for a nicely suspenseful romance, or anyone seeking a different kind of story they haven't read before, will find it in "Accessory to Marriage."
