Biologist and mother approved!!!

I appreciate the concise writing and factual information presented for new readers. My rising 2nd grader was encouraged as he was able to read nearly every word. We both enjoyed the beautiful artwork with a nod to classic naturalism. There is a plate index with more detailed info for when he is ready to dig deeper. I'm buying copies to give as gifts and several others in the series at kid's request. As a former biology major I appreciate the jump start on good information presented beautifully! I can't recommend these books enough. (I first discovered the authors through their humorous field guide bird books- one of the first discoveries that my grandparents had a sense of humor too!) So many books for children are nonsensical and cartoony. This series is refreshingly NOT.
