Through the centuries, Our Blessed Lady has appeared frequently on earth with messages of warning, hope, and consolation for humanity--but never more frequently than in the last two centuries. Heralded as the Marian Age, the past two hundred years have been blessed with numerous appearances of Our Lady, each one offering messages of inspiration and hope and urging the world to return to the love of God through prayer, penance, and reparation for sins. A Woman Clothed with the Sun considers the seven most significant apparitions of Our Lady in the past two centuries- that of the Miraculous Medal at Paris, those at La Salette, Lourdes, Knock, Fatima, Beauraing, Banneux--and also the sixteenth-century appearance of Mary at Guadalupe with its profound message for Americans. The historical background of each apparition is given, the vision itself described, and Mary's messages are quoted by writers distinguished for their special knowledge of the apparitions and their literary excellence. In his introductory chapter, editory John J. Delaney traces the relationships between the apparitions and provides a penetratinganalysisof their significance. Recipient of the Marian Library Medal, A Woman Clothed with the Sun has been critically acclaimed as the one book on Our Lady that should be read by everyone.
the one book that had the biggest impact on my life

I read this book in the summer of 1994- and as I write this (14 yrs later), I still maintain that this book has the biggest single impact on my life. Two sections (Guadalupe and Fatima) offer what I consider to be the most undeniable proofs for the existence of God. And not only of God, but the reality of Christ and the special place that Mary has in salvation history. 70,000 people witnessed the miracle at Fatima. And the three illiterate shepherd children from an out-of-the-way village in an otherwise unimportant country predicted all the major events of the 20th Century. And, together with "The Handbook on Guadalupe"- every American should know about Our Lady of Guadalupe. (She is, after all, the Patroness of the Americas.) Try visiting Mexico and not feeling the impact of the events of December 1531 still to this day. Well-written, informative, inspiring- this books is a must read.
A Woman Clothed with the Sun - Excellent

I have read many books on the visitations of The Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of Jesus Our Savior, and this one is certainly one of the very best. The accounts are factual and consise. An excellent starting point for any Christian. Highly recommended.
Excellent, compact Marian apparition library.

That's exactly what I was looking for. I didn't want to read lengthy volumes on each apparition, but I wanted a solid account of each, especially the most important, recent, Church approved ones. And that is exactly what this book is. Yes, pictures would have been lovely, but not many artists can do Our Lady anything close to justice. It's difficult to imagaine anyone being able to read these factual, very touching accounts and not be moved to not only belief in them, but come away with a strong determination to do what the Blessed Virgin Mary asks of us all. Come back to the faith and live it! Very inspiring book.
Excellent

I usually write more elaborate reviews, but it's not necessary here. Suffice it to say that this is one of the best books on Marian apparitions. Highly, highly recommended.
