Devlin spots a woman too good to be true, but takes her up on an offer for a night of passion anyway. When he rescues her, the two go on a journey of discovery and retribution. Will Lady Daniela claim the man as hers? Will she give him a choice or will it be taken away from her? A Vampire's Claim had me in its thrall. Joey W. Hill pulled me in and didn't let me go until the bitter end and even then I wanted more. This is the third book in the series, but the first one I've read. I was not confused in the least and enjoyed A Vampire's Claim from the first word. Ms. Hill didn't pull punches with her vampires. She is upfront with the violence these creatures hold. I think that is one of the things I loved. Too many vampire stories focus on making the creatures something they aren't. Ms. Hill let me know right away that the vampires will kill and it wasn't going to be some bad guy to make them feel better. The innocent aren't protected in some code the vampires have. They are ruthless, but there is something about them that makes you want more. Daniela is still young for a vampire and judged like a teen or young adult by her peers. She's grown since she left home and has a lot to prove. Devlin has his own dark past that he keeps to himself, making him feel like he only wants to die. Daniela brings something out in Dev that he thought he lost - the urge to protect. There are a couple of forced scenes in A Vampire's Claim, but it isn't something that is just thrown in the story to be there. It is a necessary part of the book because it shows the true vampire nature. They are sexual, raw and ruthless when needed. A Vampire's Claim built me up from the meeting between Daniela and Dev to the end of the story and I Joyfully Recommend that everyone should sink their teeth into A Vampire's Claim. This book is third in the Vampire Queen series and is great. IN the begining I was not sure if it was going to be as good as the first two, but keep going. I quickly fell in love with Lady Danny and Dev. And of course Hill's erotic love scences are like no one elses. Once again she has set the bar even higher. This book is an amazing read.

perhaps the best book in the series also a bit odd in its position being that we have already read about Lady Daniela and Dev in the previous books. This book takes us to their beginning and tells their story. Some of the Australian language takes a bit of swallowing for an Australian - - I found it over the top and not very realistic however i am sure that the occasional person could be found who spoke in such a manner - never the less it did not interfere with the power of the writing or the intensity portrayed by the author. in my opinion i believe this book shows an improved story line and is an excellent read. Be very aware that this book covers many areas of sexual content and considerable violence and could be distasteful to some . If you are into anything goes well worth the read.

Vampire's Claim is the story of Lady Daniela and Devlin who were secondary characters in Joey's wonderful story, The Mark of the Vampire Queen. Devlin is on walkabout. He's lost his family and in some ways his soul and no longer spend much time around anyone. He stops at a friends bar for a drink and meets Lady Daniela who has come back to Australia to reclaim her families station. She and Dev spends one passionate and very erotic night together and a bond starts to form between them. Lady D has never taken and human servant and Dev has not had a relationship since he lost his family. Dev decides to stay to help Lady D get safely to her place and what transpires is an action filled adventure full of fierce battles, erotic love scenes and the healing of hearts. Whenever I read a Joey Hill book I am transported to another world, her storytelling is so compelling. This is another wonderful story in her Vampire series and so far this is my favorite one in the series. Highly recommended!

Hill delivers the third tale in her VAMPIRE QUEEN saga, A VAMPIRE'S CLAIM. This story takes us back in time to when Lady Daniela and Dev first met. Readers were first introduced to this charismatic couple in the previous story, THE MARK OF THE VAMPIRE QUEEN, and I was delighted to learn this new book explores their relationship. Both Dev and Lady Daniela are heartbreaking characters. Each carries the pain of lost loved ones with them, and that pain draws them together as surely as their sexual desire does. Beyond the pain and desire, however, they find a deeper connection, one that would equal love and forever in a human relationship. In the world of vampire politics, though, love between a vampire female and her human servant is frowned upon. It is acceptable to have a human male for a servant, but to treat him as an equal? It just isn't done. Things work a little differently in private, however. Lady Daniela is certainly dominant most of the time, but she shares the power in their relationship with Dev, allowing him full reign when he needs it. Dev is a fantastic specimen of a man. He is resourceful, caring, strong, and pretty much every other positive quality you might want in a romantic hero. It isn't hard to understand just why Lady Daniela is drawn to him. I do have to say that the story started out a little bit slow for me. The beginning moved at a pace that was a little slow, yet still fascinating. It didn't take long for things to pick up, however, and no matter the pacing, all of it was good. Although I'm a fast reader, all of the VAMPIRE QUEEN books have been slower reads for me, and I believe it is due to the intricate politics of the vampire society that Ms. Hill has crafted in these books.
