Just in time for Valentine's Day comes three delightful holiday romances from three beloved Regency authors. In Cupid's Legacy by Paula Tanner Girard, a wealthy spinster mistakes a nobleman for a handyman--and falls in love; in Judith A. Lansdowne's The Valentine Victorious, a woman is unaware that an earl is smitten with her--until she accepts another proposal; and in The Valentine's Day Husband by Carol Quinto, a notorious Marquis wins a woman's heart in a most unexpected way.
In the first story, Cupid's Legacy, I appreciated the strong female characters who stepped outside what was considered the "norm" for women in this time period. I also liked the way the plot came around full circle to its resolution. In the second story, The Valentine Victorious, I appreciated how the attraction between the protagonists was focused on inner beauty; the earl was attracted to the intelligent, hardworking and fun-loving sister over the more beautiful one. I also like the theme of saving/adopting orphaned animals and children. The last story, The Valentine's Day Husband, was of special interest to me, as it centered around the herbal remedy practice of the female protagonist and her father. The message, that one shouldn't be judged based on heresay because things aren't always what they seem, is a good one!
