entertaining and informative

This was a good book, but it didn't seem to have the depth of other Angela Hunt books. In fact, I kept rechecking the cover to assure myself that I was, indeed, reading an Angela Hunt book! I must say, the ending was incredibly weak. For someone who usually ties up many loose ends, once more I found myself checking pages to make sure I hadn't missed her usual 'no stone unturned' ending. I really appreciated all the information about breast cancer, though, and enjoyed the book for what it was-an entertaining romance.

A TIME TO MEND By Angela Hunt Review by Laura V. Hilton Jacquelyn Wilkes' mother died from breast cancer, leading Jacquelyn to follow a career in nursing, hoping to save others from a similar sorrow. But when Jacquelyn discovers a lump in her own breast, her carefully constructed world is shaken. When the lump turns out to be cancerous, Jacquelyn struggles to go it alone, as her boyfriend and her father abandon her in her hour of need. Doctor Jonah Martin doesn't tend to stay at clinics long. Ever since he was wrongfully accused of sexual misconduct, Jonah has been as cold as ice around his nurses, earning him the nickname of Dr. Baked Alaska. But something about Jacquelyn tugs at his heartstrings and he finds himself going above and beyond the call of duty to take care of her and her needs. When the past comes back to haunt Jonah, can Jacquelyn find the strength to help heal the doctor's wounds? A TIME TO MEND was previously published in 1996 as Gentle Touch, but either way, it is a good read. Jacquelyn seems like a good nurse, caring for her patients needs but doesn't allow herself to get close to them. Jonah on the other hand, openly flirts with his patients, earning their trust and respect, but keeps the nurses at a professional distance. There are questions and answers written by Angela Hunt at the end of the book, asking her about some of her experiences with cancer, etc., since the book seems so knowledgeable about the subject, and there are also discussion questions included, making A TIME TO MEND is ideal for small group studies. $12.95. 288 pages.

Angela Hunt...

knows how to write a story!! Breast cancer, lost romance, broken hearts and the Lord to bring the healing that is needed. It can't get much better. Two people who need a healing find themselves intertwined in each others lives to a point where if one leaves what will happen to the other?

Difficult but important subject

A Time to Mend brings the topic of breast cancer to a place that will hopefully reach a lot of women. It's not what I would have chosen to read about in a romance, but I couldn't stop reading once I'd started the novel. I finished it in two days. Neither does Hunt pull any punches--the heroine of 28 doesn't just get a lumpectomy, she has to undergo a radical mastectomy; her mother died of breast cancer, and now her tumor is of a rapidly growing kind. So, where does a self-sufficient, top oncology nurse go when her own world is falling apart? It takes a lot before she is willing to surrender all to the only One who has the power over life and death. Along the way, Jackie, the heroine, fights her attraction for her handsome doctor and boss. Their relationship progresses only gradually as both are struggling to maintain a professional distance. Very emotional, meaningful story. I would like to read more of Hunt's books.

AWESOME!!

I am not a big reader, but I could not but this book down! It restores your faith, and gives you a HUGE inspirational push, I definently recommend this book to everyone I know.
