The story is unique in that the point of view is from the sister (not the disabled person) and it is easy to empathize with her. The book's fabulous illustrations help tell an inspiring tale that is positive in demonstrating how the family deals with another of their group's disability. However, it is also realistic in the sense that it acknowledges many of the difficult issues involved, especially from a healthy, young sibling's perspective. The family is truly special. The story runs the gambit of emotions and it was easy to empathize with the main character in the book, even if I couldn't relate to her specific situation. I would recommend this book to anyone as an excellent example of understanding, hope and acceptance.
