Book Overview

The USS Triggerfish--an American World War II submarine--has come home over fifty years after she was presumed lost in the Atlantic. Now her dark gray hulk lies embedded in the sand of a San Diego beach, her conning tower barely above the breaking surf. The submarine is in the wrong ocean, her crew is missing . . . And her half-century absence is a mystery that's about to deepen. For the Triggerfish has returned, but she has not returned alone. Something...

A Nappaland.com Review

Let's say you're looking to kill about 15 minutes before you go to bed tonight. If that's the case, then Alton Gansky's gripping thriller, A Ship Possessed is definitely NOT what you want to pick up. On the other hand, if perhaps you want a reason to stay awake all night, Gansky's novel is a perfect choice. That's because once you start it, you won't be able to put this page-turner down. The first in the "J.D. Stanton Mysteries" series, A Ship Possessed centers around one great mystery: a W.W.II Allied submarine that has inexplicably appeared on the beaches of San Diego. Looking in mint condition, yet seemingly empty, the puzzle of the sub is curious enough for the Navy to call Captain Stanton out of retirement to investigate. That's when strange things start to happen. Wretched, inhuman groans emanate from inside the sub. The propellers unexpectedly come to life, then lock into position again. And Stanton's assistant, Lieutenant Donna Wilcox, seems to be losing her mind with wild hallucinations...Or is she? That's the question J.D. Stanton must solve--before it's too late. Writing in the other-worldly style of Frank Peretti, and masterfully telling the tales of two different time periods, Gansky has taken the topic of spiritual activity in everyday matters and created a fresh, spine-tingling adventure for brave readers of Christian fiction everywhere. So next time you're scheduled for an all-nighter, take along A Ship Possessed to keep you awake...If you dare! BOOKBLOG RATING: A --MN

Gripping, powerful!

This was great! Alton Gansky is right up there with the greats, Ted Dekker, Frank Peretti, and so on. What made this a plus book for me was, I love submarine stuff! Right on, brother!Join retired Naval Captain, J.D. Stanton as he is called to investigate what looks to be a ghost ship. And it is a WWII sub at that! I like the demeanor of Stanton throughout the entire book. He's cool, calm under pressure, and collected. And he is most certainly a leader. On the other side of things is a German with his own agenda who believes in neo-nazism. This book is about a quest for power and a test of one's faith. Lt. Donna Wilcox plays a very important role in this work by Gansky, and you can tell he puts his heart and soul into his stuff. On a closing note, I loved the verse that really hit home, it is an oldie, but goodie. "Greater is He that is in me, that him that is in the world!" AMEN! I can't wait to read more by Alton Gansky!! Atta-boy!

The first one

I didn't have a book to read-this is a bad thing-I bought this book because of the cover, I love submarines. I got it in the mail a few days later and then read the back. A Babtist Pastor wrote it hmmmm. I thought well, I bought it and will give it a try. WOW I thought the book was great! since after reading this book I have read many of his books and would buy more by the authors name only Thanks for the sleepless nights.

Don't Read This Alone

I started this book at midnight and finished it at 2:30 AM. "A Ship Possessed" is gripping and the most frightening book I have read. (more so than the Left Behind Books) So scary that all the lights came on with me when I went downstairs. The plot was great and detailed. The first thing I did after reading the book was grab my Bible and read some more. Can't wait to read the other book. "Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world"

I give this book "2 Thumbs Up!"

This book is both riveting and spooky. I love good mystery books and now this is one of my favorite. It's nice to find a great Christian mystery novel with a exciting story line. If you haven't read this book yet and your looking for a Christian Mystery, I definately will suggest this one. This is the kind of book that once you have started to read it, you can't set it down. I purchased this book from my Christian school book fair. Personally, I can't wait to read the next book in the series titled,"Vanished". Hope u enjoy this book as much as I did. God Bless You (John 3:16)
