Makes me really miss the Bombshell line 4 1/2 stars...

Dinosaur hunter Raine Ashaway returns for another exciting adventure in A SERPENT IN TURQUOISE. Still smarting from the end of her relationship with Kincade (see AN ANGEL IN STONE), Raine receives a letter from Professor Anson McCord alleging a parallel between the dinosaurs she studies and the Quetzalcoatl legends he studies. Raine heads to Mexico and soon finds herself embroiled in a hunt for a lost Aztec city with the sexy Anson by her side. Danger lurks, however, and Raine and Anson must stay on their guard if they hope to survive. The appearance of Anson as a romantic figure in Raine's life was a bit surprising after the events found in AN ANGEL IN STONE. Surprisingly, Anson is a much more likeable character than Kincade, perhaps because his motivations are much clearer. Raine herself appears much more realistic in this second book in The Bone Hunters series. While Raine remains a strong woman capable of defending herself, she is much more comfortable in the setting of A SERPENT IN TURQUOISE. Raine belongs on her dinosaur hunts and excavations and Peggy Nicholson has crafted the ideal book to showcase the determined personality of Raine Ashaway. A SERPENT IN TURQUOISE is a bit like an Indiana Jones adventure with a female in the role of Indiana. Peggy Nicholson cleverly weaves a bit of history into the storyline, both through flashbacks and through Anson's gift for storytelling. A SERPENT IN TURQUOISE is a well-crafted tale of adventure, romance, and mystery. COURTESY OF CK2S KWIPS AND KRITIQUES

excellent romantic suspense

Archeologist Professor Anson McCord sends an intriguing note to fossil hunter Raine Ashaway that he has made what could prove to be an extraordinary find if proven. He thinks a dinosaur may have served as the model for an Aztec god. Intrigued Raine stops what she is doing, revises her plans and heads to Mexico immediately to meet with Anson and follow up on his theory. Raine expects to meet an elderly man, but instead finds the Texan is quite the hunk. He also cannot believe how beautiful she is. As they work to find his Aztec city of the Feathered Serpent whose people apparently worshipped a species of triceratops whose remains has never been seen before, ruthless others have plans to loot the sight once the scientists inadvertently lead them to it while another group wants to prevent them from finding the lost city. The key to this excellent romantic suspense thriller is the depths of detail re the Aztec culture that are cleverly interwoven into an action packed story line. Raine is a modern day Indiana Jones-ette while Anson can almost match her stride for stride. Together they forge a formidable team, but their adversaries are jus as strong. Suspense fans will want to follow the escapades of Raine and Anson as they seek physical proof of his theory while trying to stay alive and elude love. Harriet Klausner
