On her remote Colorado ranch, Rebbeca Hale has struggled to raise her small son alone. The last thing she needs is a drifter on her land--a drifter with no horse, no gear and no memory. This description may be from another edition of this product.
This is a wonderful, touching story of a "Soul Collector" sent to live on earth to learn from humans. Zack had constantly flaunted the rules of collection by being late and not seeming to care or understand why humans grieve at a death. After falling in love with Rebecca and her son he learns the real meaning of life and love. There are several heart wrenching scenes so keep the tissues handy.
Death Falls in Love in the Wild West

The paranormal historical romance, A POCKETFUL OF PARADISE by Kathleen Kane, was a pleasant surprise. I'm not a fan of Kane, so I didn't think I'd like the book, but boy was I wrong! I read this book non-stop, I found it so engrossing. The premise of the book is that Death is punished to serve one month among humans in the wild west, and not only does he learn about his own humanity, but he also falls in love. His love interest is a widow who runs a ranch and has a little boy in desperate need of a father figure. The story was sweet and unbelievably touching. I enjoyed all of Zack's responses to being human, and thought his relationship with Rebecca and her son was realistic and appropriate. I also thought secondary characters like the ranch foreman Buck and sick little girl, Ellie, were nicely portrayed. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that the horse rustler was obvious, but I could forgive it. The horse rustling wasn't the most important part of the books. The relationships were, and they worked for me. If you'd like to read a sweet historical romance that deals with the afterlife, then I'd recommend reading A POCKETFUL OF PARADISE. It's somewhat similar to the Brad Pitt movie "Meet Joe Black," but is set in the wilds of Colorado in 1875. Please note this book can be purchased under the alternative title, THE SOUL COLLECTOR. ***If you like historical paranormal romances, I'd also recommend reading IMAGINE by Jill Barnett, THE WOLF OF HASKELL HALL by Colleen Shannon, THE SELKIE by Melanie Jackson, or TO CATCH A WOLF by Susan Krinard.***
Kathleen Kane at her best!

Let me say right up front that this is defintely a case of the book SOUL COLLECTOR being better than the movie. The SOUL COLLECTOR, originally titled A POCKETFUL OF PARADISE is a touching, sweet story of one of God's servants, Zacariah, sent to Earth to live as a human for one month as punishment for his wayward ways. What Zacariah learns is love.
Another winner for Kane

I just finished reading this book last night at like 2 AM!.. I can't say enough about Kathleen Kane's books. She gets all the emotions going...I felt my heart soften when I read how Zachariah helped with little Ellie's fears. That is just one out of may times I cried along with the Charactors in this book. I haven't yet watched the TV Movie the Soul Collector...Unsure if I really want to see it. I really enjoy Kane's ability to really making the reader feel complete about finishing her books. Along with this book, I was first captivated with : Still close to heaven...and continued with Catch a Fallen Angel, and now The sould Collector. I bought Simply Magic while reading this one.. I admit it.. I'm stuck on books written by Kathleen Kane...and once you read just one of her books, I'm sure you will feel the same!. :) Happy reading! :)
First and Best!

This was the first Kathleen Kane book I read and I consider this the best. With the one book she has become my favorite romance author. She is capable of creating so many emotions all within the covers of a book. Her characters have so much depth they become real people to you. If you are looking for a book that will absorb you, get your box of tissues and be prepared to cry from sadness, happiness, and the wonderful humor that seems to be her trademark.
