Book Overview

Envy might well be termed the silent sin. Because while all of us envy others to some extent, few of us acknowledge our problem out loud, let alone try to overcome it and move forward. Bob Sorge draws upon his own pastoral experience--plus the admitted burden of his own envy--to show why and how it can adversely affect the ministry of a church and even prevent revival in people's lives. Sorge reveals why comparison of our ministry and spiritual gifts to that of our fellow believers is to be avoided at all costs so that we do not hamstring God's plan for our growth and the accomplishment of His purposes. This is a must-read for leaders of all churches, great and small--and anyone who wants the peace that comes with a life free of envy. This description may be from another edition of this product.

Only True Love Can Melt ENVY

I agree with Sarah's review. Everybody should read this book. It's true, many people don't think they have ENVY issue, especially Christians. Sorge's answer to conquor this "evasive enemy within" are two fold: 1) Know who you are in Christ. 2) Love. Deep love...

The everybody sin

I have never heard of or read Bob Sorge until now, but this book is well written and simple to understand. It was loaned to me by a friend and I was immediately taken by its straight forward attack of an insidious enemy. Sorge's precepts are supported by biblical reference, the use of which is plentiful. I see something in Sorge's writing that I like very much. When scripture is brought into the chapter, he often brings...

Necessary!

My mom told me she wanted me to read a chapter and the end of this book called "Envy" just because it was really good, etc. I couldn't just read the last chapter, so I started reading knowing that I definitely didn't have a problem with envy or jealousy because I'm just not like that. By the end of the first few pages, I was repenting to God for all the envy that I've harbored against my friends, family and fellow Christians!...
