Jimmy Ernst is an excellent writer who tells tales of emerging European art, intelligentsia, communism, fascism, the holocaust and paternal estrangement from the perspective of a bight child. It is fascinating and heartbreaking and a must-read for anyone interested in the day-to-day life (and gossip) of the modern artists of that period.
Sensitivity and artistry

A wonderfully depicted story of life as the son of a world-renowned aritst and the implications and advantages of that life, i.e. a boyhood filled with relationships with the most renowned artists of this century. Jimmy writes with sensitivity about his often absent father and intertwines it with the happenings of World War II and its impact on his family. An informative and lovingly-told tale.
