I met the author at an Audubon Camp several years ago. She is a wonderful person, and I quickly learned she is a wonderful author. The story line is real, and readers really feel for Toby's situation. Well done, Nancy.

This was a novel unlike any other written by an author with complete understanding of the subjects about which she writes. The plot which is presented in this novel could not have been developed in a better way. This novel was presented with great detail and will be remembered for years to come. I am greatly looking forward to any other novels to be written by Nancy Rivers and wish her and everyone to read this novel the best of luck.

What a wonderful children's book! This is an enchanting story of a young black boy who leaves his mother and father to live on a southern plantation with his uncle's family.
