A Mother's Gift

This book is pretty average. I would not say it is a good book for older teens to read because the plot is much too simple. I would recommend this for the preteen age group. The story is somewhat entertaining, with the main character Holly dreaming of being in a famous music school, Haverty. Holly is accepted into Haverty and begins to realize how much her simple country life at home differs from the lives of the other rich students. There is also the mystery of the scar on her mother Wanda's face, which tells the story of Holly's mysterious past.

I really am a big fan of Britney Spears, so I decided to read "A Mother's Gift". It's an amazing story, and I think Britney and Lynne did a great job of writing it.Holly is a teenge girl living in the small town of Biscay, Mississippi. Everyone there knows she has an amazing talent, which is singing. Holly longs to go to the Haverty School of Music and Performing Arts, but she is convinced she'll never make it. One day, her boyfriend secretly sends a tape of Holly singing to Haverty. Several weeks later, Holly got a letter asking for her to audition there. She was very excited! After her audition, Holly got another letter accepting her to the school! Being accepted has its ups and downs, but the biggest down was that Holly would have to leave her mother Wanda, who Holly loved dearly and was very close with. At first she feels out of place at Haverty, because most of the students there are rich and had the latest clothes and items. She makes friends with her roomate, but finds it hard to make friends with others. And Wanda misses her daughter so much, she has a secret she wants to reaveal- but it could destroy the bond between her and Holly forever. The ending was surprising- if you want to know what it is, read the book!Overall, I think Britney and her mother have wrote a fantastic book. I look forward to the other books they will write together!

At first I really wasn't so sure about this book, but then I was itching to find out if the pop queen and her mother could write, so I decided to give it a try. I loved it- I finished it in one day. It's a very inspiring story about a girl who has big dreams and they come true. I enjoyed it, and I can't wait for the next book Britney and Lynne write together. I also liked Britney's autobiography "Heart to Heart" which she also wrote with her mom.

I thought the book A Mother's Gift was the most inspiring story I've ever read. I too plan on someday being famous, and want to be a big star. Britney and Lynne did an awesome job at writing their first book, and I hope to see more of their books published in the future. Britney, and her momma, inspire me so much, and I hope to see them soon! Keep up the good work gurls!

Who could have imagined that Britney Spears and her Mommy are in possession of literary skills comparable to William Faulkner, Virginia Woolf, James Joyce, John Dos Passos, and Marcel Proust combined? Flitting effortlessly from allegory worthy of Dante and Homer, to farce reminiscent of Waugh, Twain and Thurber, and back again to weltschmerz and pathos no worse than Gogol or Du Maurrier, this roller coaster ride visits the picaresque meadows, the sesquipedalian supermarket, the portmanteau prominade, and the Magister Ludi malt shop without ever stopping for fries and chili beans. For those uninitiated in the arcane, the oblique, or the obtuse, or have not spent time in French Sidewalk Cafes pretending they are speaking to Sartre' while he was scribbling notes for "Being and Nothingness" with one hand, and slurping expresso with the other, I have a suggestion. I would respectfully suggest you work your way up to this Sacred Level of Mount Literati, and the Polymaths who await you there, crosslegged, like Tibetan Monks, mentally x-raying your brainal jello-loaf, divining your comprehension, probing ..... *whew*, where was I?...and read "Why I Wish I Had a Pony" by Christina Aguilara first. I believe this work will prepare you for the larger project ahead courtesy of the Spears Roebuck Authorial team. Don't forget to pack at least 3 boxes of Kleenex (preferrably with that new vaseline coating so you don't chap up from all the blubbering), and keep some sort of dog or cat nearby in case you need to pet something furry in mid-read. There seems to be no question now that Britney and her Mommy have displaced Jewel as the greatest writer of her generation.
