When Miriam Spencer had still been in high school, Jack Steele, the boy who had been fostered to the wonderful people who lived on the next farm over, broke up with her. Hurt and confused, Miriam went to New York and became a successful model. Then she went into the fashion business. After Miriam left, Jake gave into Miriam's best friend Paula and went to the prom with her. They had too much to drink and woke up the next morning in the back of a pickup. Paula told Jake that they'd been together. Jake felt he had to marry her. The marriage gave them a little girl, but Paula had never been satisfied. She'd leave Jake, come back months later, then leave again. Sadly she wound up in an accident and died. Now Miriam is coming home to sell the farm. Her mother has died and her fashion company is in trouble. She needs the money to bail herself out. But her car breaks down just a couple miles from her farm. A pickup stops. It's Jake. At first Miriam doesn't want to go with him. She has bad memories about the break up.But what she doesn't know is that Paula has died, Jake has a lovely daughter and that he thought he was doing the right thing by breaking up with her. However seeing the way Jake loves his daughter and his foster parents, how he's kept his faith through the years, opens up something in Miriam's heart, but will she give up the glitz and glamour of New York for a life on the farm. This is an excellent inspirational romance. Just enough tension to keep you turning pages full of wonderful characters. I really loved it.
You can return home

I really liked this book. When Miriam Spencer returns home she runs into her long ago boyfriend, Jake Steele. As the story unfolds the reader learns what drove the couple apart. More importantly you learn what brings them back together. This is the 2nd in the Stealing Home series. I liked it just as much as the first. The way Jake and his brother Simon grew up explains much about the men they became. This thread isn't the theme of the book but it does provide wonderful background. I like the growth and change in Miriam.
