Book Overview

Single adults--the fastest growing household type in America--are leaving the church in droves because they don't find it a place to belong. Wonderful writing style

The mix of personal insight and experience with biblical references opened up the subject in a whole new way for me. The familiar style made it an engaging read while writing about what is in the bible and it's interpretations made it enlightening. Highly recommend this author!

A compelling and timely recommendation

A Match Made In Heaven: How Singles And The Church Can Live Happily Ever After by Wendy Widder is a compelling and timely recommendation of how unmarried, divorced, and widowed parishioners and the Christian church can and should serve one another better. Though the community churches have traditionally been family-oriented, an unfortunate yet common occurrence is that these churches have begun to substitute programs for relationships when it comes to the unmarried. A Match Made In Heaven is an inspired and inspiring exploration of positive alternatives to enhance and strengthen the bond of the single person with the rest of the Christian congregation through the auspices of the community church.

wisdom for the church

This is an exceptional book, chock full of wholesome theology and good humor. It is difficult to read this book without feeling challenged to give more to the church and those singles who are often left out,and yet the zingers are packaged within such funny anecdotes that they go down quite easily. Bravo to Wendy Widder. May she continue to write more insightful prescriptions for the church.
