An Unforgettable and Inspiring Book

It is difficult to find adequate words to describe how powerful a story Patricia Treece shares with readers in A Man for Others. The amazing account of Father Maximilian Kolbe, canonized by Pope John Paul II, who called him the "Patron Saint of our difficult century", is told through first hand accounts of those who knew Father Kolbe throughout his life. This book chronicles in masterful style the holy life of Father Kolbe, a humble Franciscan Priest from Poland, who was eventually arrested by German authorities and imprisoned at Auschwitz concentration camp. The eyewitness accounts of fellow prisoners captures the incredible charity of a man who was ill and beaten savagely on a regular basis, but still managed to spread hope and love and light in a place as dark as hell. Father Kolbe's holy life was brought to an end when he willingly sacrificed his own life for another prisoner he didn't know. This act, which stunned and amazed even the inhuman guards, gave hope to his fellow prisoners that God continud to exist, even in that horrible place, and that good would ultimately triumph over that incredible evil. Patricia Treece has, through meticulous research and with great faith, created a book that can inspire us all to love our fellow man without preconditions...what could be more powerful ??
