Different for Dugoni

I love Robert Dugoni's books and have read the majority of them. This was a different subject matter for him and I was drawn to the time period in history. Seattle, 1933. It is during the great depression and prohibition when bootlegging, speakeasies, gambling, prostitution and gangsters were all going on. When gangsters were committing crimes and getting away with them because some cops, and some in government were on the take. Frankie Ray, a former prizefighter is murdered by a small time mobster named George Miller who claimed he acted in self defense. I love reading about this time in history, and while I enjoyed the story, I thought it was rather slow in parts. However, in Dugoni's usual inimitable style, he pulled it out of the doldrums and brought me back into the story. Left me wondering if we will revisit young William "Shoe" Shumacher is his newspaper reporting career continues. Overall this was worth the read, but wasn't as enjoyable as some by this author.
