The Ambrosian University, located in Milan, Pennsylvania, was founded in 1885 by Father Gregory Fisher, son of John Fisher, the well-known American engineer of the mid-1800s. It is based on the principles expounded in The Idea of a University , the great work of John Henry Cardinal Newman, and so is the first authentic "Newman School": it teaches every field of study as cataloged in the famous Tree of Virtues. an updated version of which appears in all publications of the Ambrosian. This Guide provides a splendid introduction to the Ambrosian, containing tours of both the intellectual and physical layout of the school, maps for both the campus and the local town, a number of questions often asked by curious parties, and a narrative about the events of a typical Orientation Week for prospective undergraduates.
