Great handbook for teens

I wish I had this book when I was growing up and going through those awkward teenage years. This is the perfect book for a teen girl who has questions about life, love, sex and everything in between. Not only would it be perfect for teen girls, but it also would be perfect for Mother's to help in explaining those tough questions we all dread. This book focused on the questions that almost any teenage girl would have. It helped with explaining sex, make-up, eating disorders and peer pressure with explanations and advice in teen language that will be easy to understand. It touches on the religious side of things as well, without pushing the religion on every page. It had a good balance between the two. Overall a great book for teen girls and Mother's with teen girls as well. [...]

Great Book for Fathers to Read

By way of full discloure: I'm not a girl! Nevertheless, one book I read this week was A Girl's Guide to Life by Katie Meier. I now know more about makeup, hairstyles, and clothing selection then ever before. This, of course, is only the beginning of what I will learn. You see...I have three girls. They're still young (8, 6, and 4), but I figure that I better get a head start right now on learning about the issues and problems that growing girls face, and how, as a father, I might be able to help. Fathers, as a tip for Father's Day, if you have daughters, do yourself a favor and buy and read a copy of this book. It was excellent. I can't think of anything Katie missed. She dealt with inner issues like self-esteem and emotions, body issues of clothing, hair, makeup, all the transitions of puberty, and moral issues like dating, sex, and religion. And Katie's style of writing perfectly matched the content of the book. As I read, I often felt I was eavesdropping on a pajama party sleepover conversation where a twenty-something woman answered questions from a roomful of teenage girls. I will definitely be giving a copy of this book to each of my three girls, and using it as a handy "reference guide" for myself as they get older.

A Girl's Guide To Life by Katie Meier

"A Girl's Guide To Life" is a book that every teen girl should own and use daily. The book is divided into three parts: mind, body, and soul. These three parts are broken down even further into subtopics including self-esteem, beauty, you rights, family, friends, and even sex. This book should be on every girl's bookshelf. It is the ultimate go-to guide. Being a teenage girl, this book was very helpful and appealing to me. The information was presented objectively, but with the care of a fellow girl who went through the same problems and dilemmas. Meier covered many, many topics that teenage girls wish were written about more. The novel had Christian values incorporated into the explanations, which was wonderful considering I'm a Christian, and interesting Christian books for teens are very hard to find. This book is overall an amazing find and I would recommend it to any teenage girl, whether they need guidance or not.

Very Good and Comprehensive

There's a sea of girl's books out there, and I'm determined to weed through each. Katie Meier's book has a long title, and surprisingly covers a lot - spirituality, body image, peer pressure, and more. Very similar to most non-fiction girl's books, Meier gives the advice in a big sister way. What separates this book from others? It actually goes into scripture and is not afraid to be frank about religion, as well. That in itself, unlike a lot of girl's non-fiction books which shy away from one of the most important aspect in a girl's life (their emotional and spiritual side), makes this book true to itself and 5 stars. Other girls books that do not shy away from being true - the Gifted Girls Series and the Gutsy Girls books.

A Girl's Guide To Life : The Real Dish on Growing Up, Being

This book is a must read for preteens and teen girls everywhere! IT is written in a fun to read style in the authors voice which makes it so easy to relate to and understand. Not only does this book offer a step by step guide through the tough questions from periods to boyfriends, it helps you through the silly and painful parts of being a girl in her teens. And,if you need answers to questions about ANYTHING you can't ask your mom or other friends about, the phone numbers and web sites are listed in the book. It's a great read, fun and entertaining at the same time. I wish I had a book like this when I was a teen!!!
