A Ghost for Maggie

Funny and fun but a little predictable. No matter. Highly recommend.

I must admit I was highly amused and entertained by this lightweight romance novel. Of course, being familiar with the beautiful and interesting locale where the story took place helped. I liked the naughty, but not malicious, ghost and found the other characters, including the pets, fun to read about.

Roberta "Red Robin" Rowe enjoyed her reputation as the hottest madam in Jerome, Arizona. Her life ended when Jackass Jake Schmidt killed her. The "wicked" Robin never went to hell as the preachers expected. For the past hundred years she has been a ghost who observed her descendants marry the wrong males. With the advent of the new millennium, there is only one person living that carries Robin's genes. However, Maggie Potter is pathetic when it comes to males. Robin must wonder about the DNA match with her great-granddaughter.Maggie took the fall as a bimbo in the latest political sex scandal. She wants nothing to do with men. With her stepsister, Maggie opens up a bed and breakfast in an Arizona mansion in which Robin resides. Worried about no future generations of Robins, the ghost decides to become a matchmaker. She selects reporter Colby Drake, investigating corruption by the current Ohio governor, as her target. As Colby tries to enlist Maggie's aid, the governor's former assistant and Maggie fall in love. However, he hides his occupation from her because he knows she loathes the media. When she finds out the truth, Colby fears his lifetime relationship will rapidly end.Romance readers know that if they desire a humorous, but entertaining story, they turn to the works of Emily Carmichael. Her latest tale, A GHOST FOR MAGGIE, is a warm, enjoyable supernatural romance. The story line centers on the machinations of Robin "teachin" her mortal trade to her recalcitrant relative.
