A Deadly Affair

Kept my interestest. Enjoyed reading this book.

Great Book, Interesting Ending

Unlike most reviewers, I found this book to be one of my fave true crime reads. (and I've read over 100 TC books!). The beginning is pretty standard fare; character analysis, crime scene, setting of the 'town'. The best part comes at the end when the author begins to question things. This is someone who sat through the evidence, and seemed honestly shocked by the outcome of the trial. If you watched the 20/20 piece, Henderson is dead on about the jury's reactions. I especially liked the written responses provided by Fletcher at the end. If he's innocent, they are sad, if he's guilty, they are chilling. Most TC books don't question the trial outcome, and I really found this looked at both sides of the coin. Most people however, seem to think Henderson was trying to sway them that MF is innocent. I thought it was fair.

Stark Terror

Tom Henderson is one of the most articulate and well researched crime writers to ever grace the craft. I was especially impressed by his impassioned description of character's biographical information. His folksy style reminds me of the A & E program City Confindential. Unfortunately, the graphic nature of Leann Fletcher's death doesn't lend itself to sound sleep.Be afraid, Be very afraid!!!!!!!!!!!

A Lively Affair

I saw this book over the holidays while shopping for a friend, and was attracted to the name -- same last name, no relation.I'm not normally a true-crime fan, but I read this one over two days. I just planned on reading a chapter the first night and 150 pages later was forced to turn the light out and go to bed.Same thing the next night.I don't know who did it, either, which should be frustrating, but I had too much fun getting there to complain.another hendersontraverse city

extraordinarily well researched

As co-counsel for Michael Fletcher during his murder trial, I was reluctant to work with Tom Henderson on this book because I believed my client and this case could not be adequately portrayed by a media consumed with the lurid details of "A Deadly Affair". I am pleasantly surprised to learn that I was wrong. Henderson not only objectively offers all of the facts and evidence involved in this trial, but he also manages to keep the motive/affair information in context. This book is well worth reading if for nothing else than Henderson's undaunted efforts to uncover the truth of what really happened to Leann Fletcher. His attention to detail must be highly praised. Whether one believes in Mick Fletcher's innocence or guilt, or even knows anything at all about this case, the book is worth reading because it exposes alot of information about our legal system, and, quite possibly, its imperfections.

Great book!

This book was wonderfully written and shows the reader that things aren't always what they seem. I think the author gives a true account of the actual events and he certianly held my interest from the very beginning to the end. The story itself is so surreal and the author captures that in his writing. Makes you wonder about our judicial system and how many innocent people are put in prison.
