Norman Rockwell: A classic treasury

No one has ever captured the American landscape and culture better than Norman Rockwell and he did it with images. You can look at his illustrations and see your youth, a simpler time in America and what is both good and bad about life. Simple actions are depicted, such as going to the dentist or doctor, a day in school, playing with friends, politics at the grassroots, basic American liberties and how the formerly deprived were granted what many others refused to give. My favorite in this collection is on pages 74-75, where a young black girl dressed in a pretty white dress and carrying her school supplies is being escorted by a group of deputy U. S. Marshalls. It was a difficult time in the life of the country, but it was something that had to be done and has led to so many wonderful improvements in the lives of people of all ethnic backgrounds. Norman Rockwell's posters are images that you never, ever grow tired of.
