First published in 1885, poet and storyteller Robert Louis Stevenson's classic tribute to the lives of children has delighted readers for more than a century. From flying through the air on a swing to building an imaginary world out of blocks to being tucked into bed for a night of sweet dreams, A Child's Garden of Verses is a joyful celebration of imagination, wonder, and what it means to be a child. Wrong edition sent

I thought I was ordering the Little Golden Book edition of A Child's Garden of Verses as shown pictured in my order..Instead I received a hard copy edition of another type..not happy with my order.

Wrong Version Sent

I took a long time reviewing the options based on the versions and cover images shown on this listing. Other people mentioned receiving different versions so I looked carefully at the pictures, etc. Unfortunately, as others have experienced, you won’t get the version you think you are buying based on the cover photos in the listing, as the ISBN numbers are apparently are mismatched. When I first reached out to customer service, they said it’s done by ISBN number, which is verified on my book that it matches the listing I purchased, but the book cover photo for that listing is different. I got some creepy cartoon version vs a beautiful illustrated one I was hoping for. Based on the reviews and customer service response, this is an ongoing issue that they apparently aren’t bothered enough to fix. Very disappointed in this company as this was my first purchase from them, and will possibly be my last. I don’t care to throw money away for items I didn’t want since they don’t refund or make these issues right.

Not illustrated

I thought I was buying the edition with the beautiful Tasha Tudor illustrations as pictured on the description. I got a hardcover book with no illustrations at all. Dissatisfied.

Oh my!

One of my favorite books! A joy and a comfort!

Disappointed as description didn't say abridged and book was not in good shape as described

Upside down

I've been wanting this book for a while and decided to order from this site. I never mind little nicks and things on my books but this book I got is completely upside down from the cover which is really annoying every time I open it. If whoever it is that sends out the books can at least check them before sending them out, it'd be really appreciated

Lovely (somewhat abridged) collection.

I grew up with Stevenson’s poetry as the backdrop of my childhood, and wanted the same for my grandchildren. Unfortunately, the description did not say that the editions I ordered are pop-up books. I don’t want pop-up books and I want to return these.

Delightful edition

The illustrations are bright and engaging, complementing the poems nicely. My 4 yo and 2 yo love this book!

Poetry and Art that kids enjoy

The lyrical rhymes and magic of everyday kid's lives is captivating for even young children. I grew up listening to these poems and my kids have enjoyed them, too. I am particularly fond of the illustrations by Eloise Wilkin. She captures the realism of both landscape and children's faces. This is a timeless classic.

You cannot go wrong!!!

This book is pure magic. The Provensons' beautiful artwork has been etched onto my brain from early childhood. Stevenson's beautiful verses coupled with the delightful illustrations make this book truly magical. You will love this book!!!!

I read this 30 years ago

Thirty years ago, I was taught to read with this. Different pictures, same poems. I learned to imagine and believe in ordinary, yet beautiful things. Even today, in my own writing, I smile realizing how and when I learned a technique ... just by listening to my mother whisper these poems nightly. Aptly named, RLS has the reader remembering the wonderful days of playing alone and with friends, of delighting in the moment. Your child will gain an understanding of classic children's poetry, of the rhythm and rhyme. They sound eloquent aloud, and read gentle at bedtime. Anthony Trendl editor, HungarianBookstore.com
