Subj: A Byte Date: 12/09/1999 1:00:51 PM Eastern Standard Time From: (Jacqueline Carl) To: [email protected] was VERY nice to meet you this weekend. I enjoyed talking with you about your book, and about Virginia history. I'll treasure your inscription. I read your book cover to cover on the plane ride home. It was very interesting, a very pleasant read. While reading I told myself, "no one who has that kind of a breakthrough product would be dumb enough to commit a federal crime with it when there is so much money to be made legally." But you wrapped it up quite successfully, and tied up a lot of ends I thought might be a little loose. And man, do you believe in your hero coming out on top...not just millions, but billions. Escaping from the federal government and the mob besides, all in 261 pages.I have determined to write more in 2000. I think I only managed to write 2-3 chapters this year. I have a whole lot more than that in my head. Running this wildlife center is important, but I can't lose myself in the process. I need to keep writing. You were an inspiration. Maybe, when I'm a bit more comfortable with my work, I can send it to you for your opinion. If you're interested.Thank you for your interest.Jackie Carl----------------------- Headers --------------------------------
I read this book straight through....

This was different from the normal mystery. I liked the characters because they had a "realness" that you don't always see in books. The interaction between characters, the computer ... and well, better not give the plot away. :-) I started reading the book and couldn't put it down.
A Mega Thriller!

I know the author personally but that doesn't change what I think of the book. This was a great one. I am so into computers and things that were in this book so it was perfect for me. Anyone who has any knowledge in computers, finance, and social security would love this book. I can't wait for Costly Images!

I enjoyed A Byte of Charity -- a fast read. Interesting characters with some surprizes along the way. Being familiar with Virginia, it is always fun to read something with so many familiar landmarks. I am looking forward to reading Pearson's next book, Costly Image, due out next year.
A thinking person's book with some interesting plot twists.

The novel had an interesting premise and wasn't just another version of other book ideas I have read. It also kept me guessing about what might occur next and how the conflict would be resolved. I enjoy reading books that I don't feel I could have written so this was a good read.
