great book for learning French

Essential to learning the language is the conjugation of verbs. I put tabs to help me locate the essential verbs quickly. My only peeve- the seller didn't include the CD ROM as advertised.

Great and Essential Book for students of French Language

I had the previous edition of this book and thought it was great. This edition is even better. The most important verbs are in the book and a new feature where key verbs are highlighted makes it even better. Offering a CD provides easier portability as you travel.

Fantastic Investment

Other than a good French/English dictionary (I strongly recommend Langenscheidt's Pocket French Dictionary), this is far and away the best investment I have made in my French education. Verbes are one of the most common stumbling blocks for English speaking students of French. This book is user friendly and incredily informative, just make sure you take the time to read over the introduction and familiarize yourself with the various resources it contains.

what's the imperfect subjunctive of pleurer??

Tours, France. They are known for speaking the purest French in the world there, and I was there to study at L'Institut de Touraine. I packed this book instead of an extra pair of shoes---who cares about shoes when you can find an orderly conjugation of just about every verb in French. My French family thought it an enjoyable game to quiz each other after dinner on the more unused tenses of the more obscure French verbs..."Good times and noodle salad" Anyway...for those curious about the format. It lists in alphabetical order the most used 501 verbs, conjugating them fully into every tense, participle, command, etc. It lists, at the bottom, idiomatic expressions that include the verb. However, if the verb for which you cherches isn't written out, it is most likely listed in the index--and beside it is the verb that functions the same way. Highly suggest that any serious French student buy it--saves a lot of time and I am shocked it doesn't cost more!

Very complete

I am preparing to begin my third year of French, and this book was a recommended purchase. I really like it because there's really more than 501 verbs. (At the bottom of the page, you will see some derivatives and expressions related to the verb.) I really like studying French verbs, so with a little time, I will be able to learn several new tenses. This book is well worth the price for its completeness.
