45-Caliber Deathtrap

While I am not a fan of the western novel, my husband is. That is why I have ordered all of the "45-Caliber" novels. He enjoyed the book very much and wants Mr. Brandvold to continue the series.

Another 'track and chase' or 'huntdown' novel as so many contemporary westerns now seem to be. Never knew the 'west' was populated with so many prostitutes and/or crazed, cold-blooded killers till I read Mr. Brandvold's books. In this one, Cuno Massey, is on the trail of a dozen or more killers who cowardly did his one-legged, wagon-trader partner in. Along the way Cuno gains Serenity, a new partner that is, and crosses paths with Kong and his daughter Li Mei, Chinese people who have also come afoul of the 'Committee' as Clayton Cannady bank robbers and killers have dubbed themselves. Not one to give too much plot away, you will need to read this 200-plus page novel to see just how it all unfolds. Peter Brandvold, as with Ralph Cotton, writes western novels 'with the bark on' which always seem to keep the reader reading. Doing it all with great style and some humor as the reader rides along those dusty western trails. Great fun. Just don't take it too seriously, this IS after all the west in fiction, not in fact.
