Not Very Good Designs

The crochet designs are not very sophisticated. Most seem to be on the level of a home ec project and are simple items that most crocheters can design on their own. This crochet book is now going to my local goodwill.

Beautiful patterns!

The projects in this book are beautifully illustrated with clear, accurate directions. The cover afghan is why I bought it, but it won't be the only project I make.

One Hundred Crochet Projects

I like the patterns even though I am just starting the first pattern of this book.Easy to read and understand.

It's a keeper

I love this book really, it is full of a variety of things to crochet and it does certainly fit my rule of more than 7 things in it that I would consider making in the future. I would also put this book on my "encouragement list" meaning that this would be a really good book to give to a new crocheter as it would show all the different directions you can really take your crochet.

Lots of cool projects, most are medium to advance difficulty

I got this book at our local library and the first thing that went through my mind was, "Finally, a book with hip patterns!" The apparel in this book are geared towards the younger crowd: they're revealing, slinky, and trendy. But because there are so many patterns, there really is something for everyone. And that takes me to the biggest advantage of this book - the sheer number of patterns in it. I found things for children, for teens, for the home, for mothers and sisters, even for pets. Actually, I think the only thing missing were things for men. (This really isn't a problem for me since my husband hates sweaters and hats anyway.) At first glance, the patterns look like they are medium to advanced skill levels. And here, I think is the downfall. I liked so many patterns but they looked so difficult and complicated. Maybe I am wrong but a skill level rating for each pattern would have benefited the book. That way, I don't find out half way into the project that I am in over my head. I would say that most of the project are apparel and accessories with a few afghans and home decor items interspearsed. I have not yet tried to make anything from this book so I don't know how accurate or clear the directions are. I do have one warning though: This book has NO DIRECTIONS for beginners. It doesn't explain how to make the stitches, how to start a chain, NOTHING. It is merely a pattern book so if you do buy it, make sure you have a reference book in case you have to look up one of the stitches.

It's ok

Most of the clothing patterns seem to be for those 20 something and younger crowd tho. Luckily, I can use most of them as my starting point and make them into something I can wear! LOL!
