We love books. Not just reading books, although that's one of the primary reasons that ThriftBooks exists. We also love and appreciate the book as a physical object, a tangible vessel that not only conveys words and ideas from author to reader, but also brings those ideas to life through the art, craft, and design of the book itself. From early editions of children's illustrated classics to the original jacket art and carefully selected typeface of a beloved work of fiction, the physical properties of a book leave an indelible impression that forever influences the way we think about the words they contain.

From this love of the book-as-object grew the idea for VintageReads. We've always been able to offer older titles for sale using our standard cataloging methods, but we realized we weren't doing all we could to properly identify, curate, and present the best and most interesting items that crossed our path: first editions, signed copies, scarce out-of-print titles, limited editions, and a whole range of other books with distinguishing features that elevate them from a reading copy to a truly special edition.

But we don't want to exist only in the rarified air of the traditional rare and collectible book market. Part of our mission with VintageReads is to make desirable books of all kinds accessible to the average book lover. In addition to elusive first edition copies of classic novels, we offer an ever-expanding selection of interesting and unusual items at a variety of price points, all hand-picked and cataloged by our staff of experts and enthusiasts.
