Scott Westerfeld

Scott Westerfeld, bestselling author of eighteen novels for adults and young adults, including his best-known work, the Uglies series. He was born in Texas in 1963 and grew up in Texas, California, and Connecticut. He graduated from Vassar College with a degree in philosophy. Also a composer, Westerfeld did graduate work in performance studies at New York University. Among the jobs he has held are substitute teacher, factory worker, software designer, and textbook editor. Westerfeld divides his year so that he spends summer in Sydney, Australia and in New York City.
